Uglyhat and Flag Day

Yesterday was Flag Day, and the Caveman Crawl in Bridgeport.  I took the first shot waiting for the first runners to show up to my obstacle, UglyHat  looks pretty good, all J.J. Abrams/Micheal Bay-ed with the lens flare.  Then while on my way home I saw this and thought, "Only in Texas."  I have been to about 40 out of the 50 states and have never seen the state flag fly with Old Glory on top of a crane. 

Miami

       My assignment yesterday took me to Miami.  I have only been a few times before and never really got to look around.  I spent too much time looking at the new murals for Art Basel, and not enough getting the material that I was suppose to be getting. 
       I got to see the whole city though from the palacial mansions of Coconut Grove to the run down apartments and houses in Little Haiti, I witnessed it.  I only spoke to one person the whole day.  A mexican in Little Havana," ¿Hablas español?"
      "Un Pequito" I replied.
      He told me," You walking around this city with a camera like that you better be two people."
      "Oh I know, believe me I know."
      "Ok" he looked at me and shook his head.
      As I got to my car to get back in I said, "Gracias."
      "Orale." and he kept on walking.

Sign Waver Fight Club

Sometimes I wonder, as I am driving past these sign holders; is there a hierarchy?  Does one pay more than the other? Do the "We Buy Gold" people sit and drink with the KFC and Litter Caesars guys? Or do they fight and have big knock down drag outs where they use their placards as shields and lances in parking lots at the end of the day, and if that's the case I surely want to see one of these "tournaments."  I'm sure the first rule of Sign Waver Fight Club, is that you don't talk about Sign Waver Fight Club. 

I bet she is a beast in the ring.

I spend so much of my time in the car on most days that I am constantly looking for interesting things; I have been known too jump three lanes of traffic, stop in medians, or take multiple u-turns in order to get shots of the things that catch my eye.  These are a couple of things that I ran across on the final day of November.  First was some new graffiti on Palm Beach Blvd the second a Ferris wheel on Pine Island Rd in Cape Coral.  

Marketing Tool

So this is the sign girl for a gun store on Cape Coral parkway... She, like the ivory billed woodpecker, is a rare find, and thought to be extinct; only there for a few hours, not every day and never occurring in a discernible pattern. The owner of the store can't be said not to know his clientele.

Magic Beans

Saturday evening in Tampa. 
"Hello my name is Jack and I have a problem with magic beans."

I went to go look for something to eat, it was coming up on dusk and the sun was trying to break out from behind a cloud bank, this is my favorite time of day, and behold!  I saw this bridge from interstate 275, immediately exited and waited for that perfect light from the sunset to shine onto this old drawbridge.  I shot these and never found anything to eat.
